Classic early DJ-style single from Dennis Alcapone, released in 1972 on Duke Reid Greatest Hits. During this period Alcapone became one of the first deejays to gain international attention, bringing the sound system style from the dancehall to vinyl.
On “No. One Station” he delivers his signature energetic toasting over a steady reggae rhythm, with the confident delivery that made him a key figure in the early DJ era. The flip side, “Love Is Not A Gamble,” offers a strong vocal cut, typical of the Treasure Isle sound associated with Duke Reid productions.
Original Jamaican press on the Duke Reid Greatest Hits label. A solid early ’70s reggae 7″, representing the formative years of the DJ style in Jamaican music.
